Our loving husband, father and grandfather, Clarence D. Ervin, 84, passed away September 30, 2014 at his home in West Valley City, UT. He was born March 24, 1930 in Evanston, Wyoming, to Annie Davies and Clarence Arthur Ervin. He was raised in Evanston where he attended schools. On December 6, 1950 he married his high school sweetheart, Lois Harding. He loved her enough to marry her again December 3, 1958 in the Salt Lake Temple. They have been blessed with six wonderful children, 23 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren. (And Clarence was an only child.) He is survived by his wife Lois; sons David (Janine), Douglas (Cheryl), Danial (Cory), Daryl (Leslie), daughter Diane Sinfield (John) and daughter in-law Julie Ervin. Preceded in death by parents; son, Donald Ervin and grandson, Kody Sinfield. Clarence was a great, loving and kind person. He loved everyone and loved to talk to people, no matter where he was he could start a conversation. As an only child, he was spoiled and loved by his parents and very special grandparents. He graduated from Evanston High School where he had numerous friends. He was always athletically inclined and talented. He set many records in high school; as a quarter back he scored more points than any high school student in the state of Wyoming. He taught all his children how to throw a football, dribble and shoot a basketball, hit and throw a baseball or softball; and loved watching them compete in many sports. He loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting and was good at both. He loved the time he spent with his grandpa, and later with his sons and grandsons. From him, the boys learned fishing and hunting skills and where every dirt road in Southwest Wyoming was; they remember every spot their dad took them. He was a wonderful husband, always kind and expressing his love to Lois. He was a great father and loved very much by his children. His only daughter, Diane, quickly became "Daddy's Girl" and always will be. He was very proud to be a grandfather and truly loved each grandchild and great grandchild. Each year he and Lois took the grandchildren on a week's long camping trip. These times were very special and meant a lot to him. Even though he was spoiled as a child he never acted that way. He loved everyone and his wife and children came first, never thinking of himself. He was active in the L.D.S. Church, serving in many positions. He loved going to the temple and participated in temple work every week for 23 years. He was a very hard worker at his jobs and at home until a wicked form of arthritis slowed him down little by little each year. For many years he was never without pain, but kept going like a real trooper. Over the years he gained many great friends and loved them all old and young; he was "grandpa" to many of the younger generation.
