Our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, husband and friend, Clark J. Christensen, age 80 - slid into home plate one last time, returning to his Heavenly Father on September 2, 2017, surrounded by his family in St. George, Utah. He was born on August 25, 1937 to William Davis and Ida Jones Christensen in Wales, Utah. He married Paula VanDemark on November 10, 1967, in Las Vegas, Nevada and later was sealed in the Salt Lake Temple, on June 14, 1977. He attended South High School and enlisted in the U.S. Marines on August 28, 1954. The last year of service he played baseball for the "Hawaiian Marines." He was honorably discharged as a sergeant on August 27, 1957. Clark loved to play fast pitch and slow pitch softball for at least 50 years of his life, only slowing down the last few years. Clark was inducted into the "Huntsman World Senior Games Hall of Fame" in October 2009, for his sportsmanship and support to the field of softball. He loved attending and helping coach his children's sporting and other events. He loved meeting his many friends at the Amber Restaurant to remember the good old days with softball and fishing. He was very sociable and loved being around people. He liked to tease everyone, especially all the grandkids. He was a very loving, caring and good man. Clark retired at age 76 as a life insurance and securities salesman. Clark is preceded in death by his parents; all his brothers and sisters; grandson Dean Martin III (Colt); and granddaughter Kasey Debra Christensen. He is survived by his best friend and love of his life, his wife Paula; four children Daphne (Dean) Martin, Derek (Karen) Christensen, Jennifer (Shane) Madrigal, and Jason (Marguerite) Christensen; grandchildren Tres (Jenifer) Christensen, Jason Rowland, McKenzie (Raymond) Barreto, Dane, Ava, Deacon Christensen, Ryker Christensen and Marcus Madrigal; great-grandchildren, Aspen, Oakley and Lorenzo; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 8, 2017, 12:00 noon, at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, where viewings will be held Thursday, September 7th, 6-8:00 p.m. and again prior to services on Friday from 11-11:45 a.m. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
