On Feb. 21, 2017, Claude R. Martinez, age 70, passed away unexpectedly at Jordan Valley Hospital after a long illness. He was born July 4, 1946, in Los Brazos, New Mexico, to Claude A. and Grace Martinez. He was a long-time resident of West Valley City. He worked as a first operator at Alliant Tech, retiring after 38 years. He leaves behind his wife, Carol; children, Jennifer (Steve) Patrick, Debra (Shane) Gordon, Tom (Heather) DeVore, Amber (Ken) Smith, James (Mindy) Smith, and Shelly Timothy; 12 grandchildren; brothers, Leo (Vicky) Martinez, Ermino (Jeannie) Martinez, and Manuel (Bonnie) Martinez; sisters, Margaret Rosas, Alice Melchor, Fauna Moreno, and Cecilia (John) Trujillo; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the second floor staff at the Jordan Valley Hospital for their care of Claude. Claude was a proud organ donor. A viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Road, in Taylorsville. A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 S. Redwood Road. Claude was a very kind and loving man who will be sorely missed.
