Clytie Read Wilkinson, age 85, slipped submissively and worthily through the veil on December 24 , 2011. Born the fifth of eight children on November 23, 1926 to Robert Locke Read and Cora Lucille Hammond in Salt Lake City, Utah. She graduated from West High School in 1944 as one the top ten students of her class, and the recipient of the Daughters of the American Revolution Homemaking Award. She married the love of her life, Joseph William Wilkinson, on September 30, 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple, who preceded her in death in 1987. Their union was blessed with four sons. Clytie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Though always active in the Church, more importantly, she was active in the Gospel up to her last moments in mortality. Many were blessed by her enthusiastic influence throughout a broad season of service as a leader and a teacher in the Ward and Stake Relief Society and the Young Women s organizations. Notably, following the death of her husband, she served a full-time proselyting mission in the Tacoma Washington Mission (1990 - 1991), and as an Ordinance Worker in the Jordan River Temple for many years. She humbly cultivated unique musical talents bequeathed to her before birth. She was a member of the Tabernacle Choir for twelve years, led a Regional Choir, as well as numerous ward and stake choirs over the course of her life. An accomplished soprano, she was a vocal soloist at countless meetings and funerals throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five siblings and two grandchildren. She is survived by two siblings, Roberta Read and Robert Leon Read, as well as her four sons, Mark (Julie), Wade (Lori), Chad (Allison) and Bret (DeNise). Her living posterity also includes fifteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. The family wishes to express particular gratitude to Dignity Hospice, and in particular, Leslie Daley for their sensitive service to her in her last days.
