Colonel (Ret) Nathen Winn Noyes 1952 ~ 2013 Nathen Winn Noyes passed away January 20, 2013 in Phoenix, Arizona. He was born December 4, 1952 in Price, Utah to Nathen S. and Lorraine Winn Noyes. He graduated from Kearns High School in 1971. He then won the last draft lottery for the Vietnam War, his birthday being #1. Shortly after he enlisted in the military and made it his career. He was chosen for officer candidacy school and quickly rose in the ranks as a cavalry officer. Upon retiring as a colonel he went to work for Inter-Coastal Electronics as the Vice President of development. He took a leave of absence to serve three years as an advisor to the Afghan Minister of the Interior. Throughout his life he served faithfully in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in numerous callings throughout the world including branch president, bishop and in the district presidency of Kabul Afghanistan Military District. Throughout his life he worked towards the expansion of the church with all his heart. He married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Lynne Milar, in the Manti Temple on December 1, 1972. Together they supported each other as they served our country and the church all over the world. Winn is survived by his wife, Patti; children Jeni (Robert) Farwell, Windy, John Winn (Sarah), and Nicole; his grandchildren Jakob, Emmeline and Peter; parents; brothers and sisters Judy (David) Brown, Naloni (Garn) Lovell, Don (Carol), Reon (Keith) Cowan, Maurice (Jenni), Cindy (Mike) Poll; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his infant son, James Winn; sister Linda; and grandparents. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 31, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at the Taylorsville 12th Ward, 4505 South 3420 West with a viewing, 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
