Colleen Wall Kerr

June 29, 1927 — October 16, 2013

Colleen Wall Kerr Colleen was taken home to the arms of a loving Heavenly Father early in the morning of Wednesday, October 16, 2013. She fought health problems for a long time, but when she suffered an agonizing fall that pulverized her hip on August 30, she decided it was time to go as soon as the Lord would call. Colleen was born June 29, 1927 to Mattie Lucile Mower and Peter Nephi Wall in Mt. Emmons, Utah. She was the first child of a large family of 5 brothers, Cecil, Kay, Clifton (deceased), Billy, and Jack who died as an infant; as well as 4 sisters, Emmogene Thacker (deceased), Revella Daniels, Dora Hislop, and Joan Peterson. She grew up in the beautiful Uintah Basin during the years of the Great Depression. There were no jobs and little money, but so many rich memories of farm and family life. Colleen married Arnold Chatwin (later divorced) and had 4 children, Phillip/Judy Chatwin, Diana McIntyre, Lorraine/Gene Jorgensen and Robert (Bobby)/Diann Chatwin. She loved being a homemaker. She loved decorating for all the holidays. Colleen and Arnold moved several times during their marriage; but always, she managed to make every house a home. Colleen loved to cook. The children often speak of memories of fresh homemade bread, scones, fudge, and wonderful cakes and pies. Even in her 80's she could recite almost any recipe from memory. She would marry 2 more times and would finally be sealed in the Salt Lake Temple to Don Kerr after he passed away. She moved into Escalante Park Apartments in 1988 where she enjoyed activity and fellowship in the Escalante Branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for many years. The family wants to give special and sincere thanks to the wonderful staff at Copper Ridge Health Care Facility who so very patiently took care of her this last month and a half of her life. Colleen will be missed. She is lovingly and colorfully remembered by her brothers, sisters, children, 14 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren. We pray God will protect her and hold her in the hollow of His hand until we meet again. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 22, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at McDougal Funeral Home at 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah with a viewing, 10-10:45 prior to services.
