Connie Jan Sommercorn Black 1953 ~ 2014 Connie Jan Sommercorn Black was born December 17, 1953 in Salt Lake City, Utah to David E. Sommercorn and Janice Waters Sommercorn. She passed away October 29, 2014 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. She graduated from Kearns High School where she was a member of the Madrigal and Concert Choirs. After high school she toured Europe and Asia as a performer with the USO Organization. Connie married Thomas M. Drury, later divorced. She married William G. Black October 30, 1999, and were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Bill died 3 years later. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Connie held many callings, including Ward Organist, Choir Director, and Stake Young Women President, among others. Connie was a proposal writer for an international company located in Salt Lake City. She received her Real Estate License in 2002 and became an Executive Broker in 2008. She was an active member of the Hot Springs Board of Realtors. She also held various leadership positions in the Hot Springs Civitan Club. Connie loved to sing and was a regular performer at the annual Veteran's Day event in Hot Springs. She regularly sang at local nursing and retirement centers. She loved to bring music to the lives of people everywhere. Survived by parents; brother, Gary D. Sommercorn; sister, Michelle (Robert) Hicks; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 4, 2014, 1:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, with a viewing from 12-12:45 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Interment: Mountain View Memorial Estates.
