Cora Irene "Rene" Jones Tisdale

July 4, 1931 — July 21, 2014

After a courageous seven-year struggle with heart disease, diabetes, and arthritis, Cora Irene "Rene" Jones Tisdale, age 83, died July 21, 2014, in Taylorsville, Utah. Rene was born July 4, 1931, to William Earl and Cora Whitaker Jones in Salt Lake City. She was "Big Sis" to Lois and Billy. She married Fred Tisdale on April 2, 1948. She graduated from West High School one month later. After her husband's death March 26, 1980, she supported herself working at Sorenson Research/Abbott Laboratories until she retired. She started working one month before Fred's untimely death. Rene began as an assembler, then as a supervisor. She loved all those she worked with and they called her "mother." Rene was an avid reader, enthusiastic card player, consistent bowler, and baseball fan rooting for Atlanta, the Yankees, and her favorite players. She lived her life in Salt Lake's Poplar Grove area. She was happiest helping others with babysitting, rides, money, her time, or her fresh baked rolls. She was caretaker for her grandfather and parents and her bookkeeping skills saved her father's business. She is survived by her children, Peggy (Vic) Minard, and Fred (Robyn) Tisdale, Jr.; brother, Bill (Pat) Jones; grandchildren, Jami Minard, Sarah (Alan) Read, and Zachery Tisdale; great-grandchildren, Libby Read and Aaron Read; "adopted" great-grandchildren, Alexis Fredrickson and Mercedes Earl; her brother's children; her husband's large extended family; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; parents; and sister, Lois Jones. A memorial service will be at noon Saturday, July, 26, 2014, at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Road in Taylorsville. Friends may call one hour prior to service. Gracious thanks to Colleen, Carrie, Tristan, and Maria from Legacy Hospice for their tender ministrations during Mom's last days.
