"Happy Trails to You" A true son of the Golden West went home July 10, 2015 after suffering a fall. He had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 1999. Craig was born April 3, 1930 to Clarence Craig Malin and Annie Morrison Orrock in Stockton, Ca. He was raised in Panama where he graduated from Cristobal High School in 1949. He then attended the Colorado School of Mines on a scholarship, graduating in 1952 as a Metallurgical Engineer. Following 2 years of work for General Electric in Schenectady N.Y. He continued his education at Harvard Business School for one year before deciding that he preferred engineering and the sciences over business. It was the era of space exploration and Craig got the job of a lifetime working for Rocketdyne in Canoga Park California, where he chose the metals and processes for the rocket engines that sent men to the moon and brought them back. After 16 years as a rocket scientist Craig re-entered the academic world attending law school at night while working as a patent agent during the day. In 1974 he passed the California State Bar and began a new career as a Patent Attorney for Rockwell's Science Center where he remained until his retirement at age 59. He was then able to give more time to music, traveling, reading gardening, camping and to his grandchildren. The best decision he ever made was to marry Carol Crafts, his wife of 62 years and his unfailing care giver in his declining years. He is survived by his wife Carol; sister Sally Griep; children Steven Malin (Valarie), Sally Daetwyler (Ed), Kelvin Malin (Erin) and Pamela Maddox (Nic); 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.
