Cindy Chavez April 26, 1961~ January 31, 2013 Lovey Cynthia Ann Brown Chavez passed away in her home January 31, 2013. She was born April 26, 1961 to her parents, Bill Brown and Joyce Mae Quick, in Encino California. She married her high school sweetheart, C. Miguel Chavez, on June 5, 1982 in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together they had three children: Chayla Mae (Ben Jenkins), Mario (Melissa), and Daisha Ruth. Most of their married life they lived in their home in West Jordan, Utah. Cindy worked many years at Rafael's Mexican Restaurant where she made lifelong friendships with both staff and customers. She then spent over 10 years in elementary schools, touching the lives of every child she came in contact with. She had a special place in her heart for special needs children and showed them Christlike love through her works with them. Cindy is a true disciple of Jesus Christ. She showed her testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ by the way she lived her life and the way she served others. She lived her last day serving and making sure others were taken care of. Cindy lit up every room she walked into with her bright personality and beautiful smile. Her influence for good is something her family and friends will always strive to emulate. Cindy loved her family more than anything. Her husband, 3 children and their spouses, and 3 grandchildren were the light of her life. She devoted her time and energy to serving them before she thought of herself. Cindy fulfilled her calling as a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Cindy is preceded in death by her mother, Joyce, and her father-in-law, Jose A. Chavez. She is survived by her father Bill Brown, brothers Scott Brown and Robert Brown, husband Miguel, 3 children, 3 grandchildren, and numerous family members. A viewing will be held on Monday, February 4 from 6:30 to 9:00 pm at the Jordan Oaks Stake Center, 8117 South Leslie Drive (3905 West), West Jordan, Utah 84088. Guests may also call prior to services from 10:00-11:30 am on Tuesday. Her funeral will be held Tuesday, February 5 at 12:00 pm, at the Jordan Oaks Stake Center.
