Darrell returned home to a loving Father in Heaven March 21, 2015 after a short, courageous battle with Leukemia. He was born on Mother's day, May 10, 1942, to William Leland and Faye Privett Bawden in Granger, Utah. He graduated from Granger High School in 1960. He started his own transmission business in 1965, Trans-A-Matic, now run by his brother and partner, Doug. His business thrived because of his honesty, integrity and work ethics. He married the love of his life, Barbara Dearing, in the Salt Lake Temple in 1963. They raised three children: Jeff, Troy and Leanne. Darrell was devoted to the Lord and service to his fellow man. He served in many capacities in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as Bishop three times for close to 20 years. He loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brother, sisters and nieces and nephews. He helped organize and kept running, for the last 26 years, the Temple Riders Association. Together they were able to attend 40 temples and Sunday church services, and do missionary service all over the United States. He and Barbara were serving at the Utah State Prison in the Family Home Evening calling at the time of his passing. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; children: Jeffrey William (Tammey), Troy "Luke" Darrell (Pamalee) and Leanne Faye (Jay) Barnhurst; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lela (Fife) Bowen, Ruby (Dan) Leatherwood and Arlene (Ron) Fors; brother, Doug (Carol) Bawden; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at LDS Hospital, 8th floor East Leukemia Ward, and the Intermountain Home Care and Hospice, especially Brittany, for their excellent care of Darrel and Barbara during this difficult time in their lives.
