Dallas Dunn Cooke peacefully passed away Sunday March 13, 2016 from brain cancer and Lewy Body dementia. He was born July 20, 1936 in Brigham City, Utah to Campbell Miller Wallace Cooke and Lois Dunn Cooke. When he was 4 years old, his mother died and he was cared for by his maternal grandparents. At age 10, he moved with his father and step-mother (Katherine Blessing Cooke) to Riverton, Utah, where he made and kept many lifelong friends. He graduated from Jordan High School, and the University of Utah, with a B.S. degree in accounting. He served an LDS mission in the Australia NSW (Sydney) Mission, developing a love of the country and special friends, which he kept his entire life. He served six years in the Utah National Guard. He married Janice Leone Urry June 2, 1961 in the Salt Lake Temple. She passed away March 16, 1975. He married Marilee Christensen August 19, 1975 in the Ogden Temple. He became a CPA August 4, 1965 and developed a successful tax practice, retiring after 44 years in 2009. He had no hobbies except to be a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He also was giving of his love, time and money to any neighbor, or stranger who needed it through his never-ending service. He was called to be the first Bishop of the Bennion 6th Ward, and served as 2nd counselor in the Bennion Central and Bennion Heights Stakes. He was widely traveled, lived his religion, and shared his passion for the gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone he met. He is survived by his wife Marilee; his children, Roger (Melanie) Cooke, Garn (Kristin) Cooke, Camille (Troy) Mitchell, Heather (Wittmann) Kou, David (Kimberly) Cooke; 13 grandchildren; with 1 great-grandchild due in August; siblings Eloise (Jay-deceased) Rasmussen, Gerald (Ruth) Cooke, Katherine (William) Holmberg; and numerous nieces and nephews, whom he loved and "rasseled" with. He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife Janice. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 21, 2016, 12:00 noon, at the Bennion 6th Ward, located at 5775 South 2700 West, Taylorsville. Viewings will be held Sunday, March 20, 6-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Monday at the church prior to services, 10:30-11:45 a.m. Interment, Riverton City Cemetery.
