Daniel Armstrong

July 3, 1952 — April 3, 2025

Daniel Jon Armstrong

3 July 1952-3 April 2025 (72 years old)

Our hearts are broken as we say goodbye to our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

Daniel Jon Armstrong was born on 3 July 1952 to Wilson and Venice Armstrong in Idaho Falls, Idaho. The 4th of 5 children, Dan inherited Wilson's child-like mischievous nature that could be seen in the twinkle in his eye, and the way he smiled; a trait that Dan passed on to many of his own grandchildren.

He served an LDS mission to Auckland New Zealand where he fell in love with the people and culture. Upon returning from his mission, he attended BYU where he met the love of his life, Lorene Morey. They were married in the Salt Lake LDS temple on 28 April 1977. They welcomed 7 children into their home and all 7 of them were loved unconditionally.

He loved fishing and hunting with his boys and spoiling his daughters. One of his fondest memories was when he earned his black belt in Taekwondo with his son, Joel.

With Lorene, he made sure his children knew their worth and felt their love. Together, the two of them had a grand adventure!

Dan owned his own CPA firm for 42 years and considered his clients as friends. He also served two two terms as city council member for Taylorsville City.

Dan was a devout member of the LDS church his whole life and loved serving in his many different callings from primary teacher, temple worker, Bishop, Oxbow Jail Branch President, and in young mens again and again and again. At the time of his passing, he was serving with the YSA. He taught values and principles through his Christlike generosity.

His grandchildren idolized him and his childlike mischief was endearing to all. He loved teasing everyone and made friends wherever he went. Dan was generous to a fault, patient, never held a grudge, hard working and had a great sense of humor.

He is survived by his sweetheart, children: Josh, Jared (Jenny), Carrie (Aaron) Stonehocker, Brittany (Garrett) Best, Lynsie (Mike) Cox, Taylor (Stephanie), Joel (Samantha), currently 23 grandchildren, and his sister Diana (Kent) Secrist. He has now been reunited with his parents as well as his two brothers, Richard and David, and one sister, Linda.

A viewing will be held at the LDS church building located at 5233 S 3200 W in Taylorsville on Friday 11 April from 6-8pm and the following day from 10-10:45am. Funeral services are Saturday 12 April at 11am. Interment will follow the services at the Taylorsville cemetery located at 4567 S Redwood Rd.
