Darlene Johnson

April 19, 1937 — January 13, 2013

Darlene Leah Johnson 1937 ~ 2013 Darlene Leah Wager Johnson, our loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away at the age of 75 on Sunday, January 13, 2013 peacefully at her home in West Jordan, Utah, surrounded by her family. She was troubled by many illnesses during the past few years. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on April 19, 1937 to Clarence and Wanda Wager. She was married and sealed to her husband, Joel Curtis Johnson, in the Logan Utah LDS Temple July 19, 1955. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions in the Primary, Sunday School and Relief Society. She dedicated her time to her family and was devoted to her 9 children, 35 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. She loved to cook and make food for other people. She lived for her grandchildren and their accomplishments. She was self taught in crocheting and knitting, once completing a 9 x 12 foot rug. She traveled the world including Europe, the islands of the Pacific, Alaska and across the United States. She lived for the JAZZ NBA season. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Nora, Shirley and Joyce. She is survived by her husband, Joel; children: Joel II, James, Jay, Jason, Jess, Joelene (Marosok), Jared, all in the Salt Lake Valley; Janalee, Minnesota; JaNell (Ward), Syracuse, UT; sisters Helen, West Valley City, UT; Louise and Clarice, Arizona. Darlene will be missed, but always loved by her family and those who knew her. Many thanks to those who have offered and given support during her times of need. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 21, 2013, 1:00 p.m. at the LDS Church, 8841 South 4800 West, West Jordan, UT. Friends may call Sunday, January 20, 2013, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Monday at the church, 12-12:45 p.m. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
