David Croom Woodfield

October 22, 1956 — August 9, 2018

David Croom Woodfield (1956-2018), a devoted husband and father, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2018 at Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville, GA. David was born on October 22, 1956 to Florence Clementina Croom and Norman Ray Woodfield in Provo, Utah. He was the fourth of six children. Shortly after his birth, his family relocated to southern California, then Texas, and back to southern California again. He spent his teenage years in Woodland Hills, California. At the age of 19, he served a two-year mission for the LDS church in Taiwan. After returning home, he enrolled at BYU and earned his Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. He went on to have a successful career as a software engineer for a number of different companies. He met his first wife, Julie Corrigan, in Santa Paula, California and they were married on October 11, 1985 in the Manti Temple in Manti, Utah. Together they had three children, Daniel Ray (Galina), Jared David, and Jordan Ray (Nicky). They raised their family in Fillmore, California and Tracy, California. He met his second wife, Xin Mai (Vivian), in 2015. What started as an online relationship eventually resulted in a beautiful marriage. David and Vivian were married on October 29, 2016 in Salt Lake City, Utah. After spending the first year of married life in Folsom, California, they relocated to Dacula, Georgia. A lifelong, active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, David had opportunities to serve in many different capacities, but his favorite was that of nursery worker. He had a gift when it came to caring for small children and his nursery kids would come and sit next to him at church for many years afterward. He was a talented bowler, softball pitcher, and ping pong player. He never missed a Dodger game, he loved watching old films, cycling, and camping/hiking with his family. Though he was sometimes a man of few words, he made it clear through his actions that he loved his family deeply. David was preceded in death by his sister, Janis; and his parents. He is survived by his wife; three children; three grandchildren; his brothers, Scott, Jerry, Brian; and his sister, Susan Gunnell. He left this world, and his new bride, too soon after less than two years of marriage. His legacy will live on in the memories of his family who dearly loved him and will miss him greatly. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at 8825 South 3200 West, West Jordan, Utah 84088. A viewing will be held at 9:00 a.m. the same day prior to the funeral service.
