David Merrick Davis passed from this life to a better place on February 8, 2016. He was born in American Fork, Utah to David and Lucille Merrick Davis on April 30, 1932. As a boy his parents owned a drive-in restaurant named the "Owl Inn." Sadly, he lost his father at the age of 10 and his mother when 12 years old and was raised by his grandmother, Martha Merrick. After graduating from Granite High School he joined the US Air Force and served as a cryptographer. While stationed in Washington, D.C. he met his future wife, Eileen Barwick at a USO dance. They traveled from D.C. to be married in the Salt Lake Temple, June 26, 1953. After his service with the Air Force they returned to Salt Lake City to make their home. They also resided in Riverside, California for 9 years. David worked for a heavy equipment company and it was here he learned that he had a high mechanical ability that blessed his life. David was an active member of the LDS church and loved teaching and working with the Scouts. His family was precious to him; he was so proud of them and loved being with them. How he loved the mountains and to go fishing with his friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter Dawn Galloway; and sister Donna Ingebretsen. He is survived by his wife Eileen; son David Barwick; son, Rodney; daughter Bonnie (Bill Skokos); and son Grant, Santa Monica, CA; 8 grandsons; 1 granddaughter; and 3 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 13, 12:00 noon, at the Taylorsville Gardens 2nd Ward, 4200 Mantle Ave, where a viewing will be held prior to services, 10:30-11:45 a.m. Interment, American Fork Cemetery.
