Our beloved father, David Earl Stratton, returned home to his Father in Heaven on Monday, December 23, 2024. David passed peacefully surrounded by his family. David was born in Helena, Montana and was proud to be a Montana Man. He did many extracurriculars in high school, including wrestling, choir, and football. He dedicated two years of his life to serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Las Vegas, Nevada. After his mission, he attended Ricks College and Brigham Young University where he attained two associate degrees and a bachelor's degree. Later in his college years, he met his loving wife Cheryl and earned a triple master's degree. He was extremely proud of his Master's Thesis "The Effect on the Efficiency of a Less-Friction Bearing on an Air- Cooled Internal Combustion Engine". Mr. Stratton was known throughout the valley as a great mechanics teacher and a dedicated wrestling coach. Those who knew him as an educator lovingly referred to him as "Stratt". David spent 5 years teaching at Skyline High School and 25 years at Taylorsville High School.
He was an incredible father to his four children Bryan, Timothy, Celeste, and Natalie, as well as his two "adopted" children Isaiah and Jacob. He was a friend to all and a mentor to those who needed it most. Dave always had a poem to help those who needed it. Everyone who met Dave loved him and each had a unique story about his crazy antics. Dave fought valiantly through many tribulations but never lost his faith. He spent his life serving others. He was an unfailing example of what matters most in this life. He is survived by his loving wife, mother - Esther Stratton, children, grandchildren, students, siblings, and all others who loved him.
