Delsa Van Dyk "Dear Wifey Ellen" Delsa Ellen Harland Van Dyk, 84, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece and friend, took her last breath and entered into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father at 12:35 p.m. on Sunday, February 9, 2014, surrounded by her husband, daughter and two very dear friends. Delsa was born May 29, 1929 in Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England, to John Charles Harland and Mary Alice Thomas. She immigrated to the United States in December of 1952 and settled in Salt Lake City, UT. She was proud of her heritage but felt it a great privilege to come to America and become a citizen of this great country. On September 3, 1964 Delsa married Albertus Van Dyk, her true sweetheart and eternal companion, in the Salt Lake Temple. They were just short of sharing 50 years of marriage here on earth. She had one very special daughter, Melissa Ellen, who provided much love and devotion to her mother. McKenzee Ellen was her only grandchild and was the love and light of her life. Delsa was a very kind woman who took care of many people in her life here on earth her mother, her mother-in-law, and her sweet Uncle George. She had a big heart and truly appreciated each one of her friends, both near and far, and thanked them all for the special role and part they played in her life. Delsa was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings in the church. She loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ and treasured her membership and testimony. She also faithfully stood by her husband's side through every calling he has held in the church. The person she wanted to meet the most on the other side of the veil, besides her loved ones waiting for her, her Heavenly Father and her Savior, was the Prophet Joseph Smith. Oh what a reunion it will be!! Delsa is survived by her sweetheart, Ad; her girls, Missy and McKenzee; niece, Kym (Shaun) Wheeler and their 2 sweet boys, Derek and Alex; nephews, John and Mike Harland; sister-in-law, Mary Harland. She is preceded in death by her parents; only brother, Derek Harland; and sister, Joan Harland who died in infancy.
