Dennis L. Petersen 1939 ~ 2011 Our loving husband, father, grandpa, brother and friend, Dennis L. Petersen, surrounded by family, peacefully returned home to his Heavenly Father on August 28, 2011. He was born in Salt Lake City March 16, 1939 the second son of Ada and Russ Petersen. He was a little boy in Garfield, Utah, then lived most of his youth in Magna, a proud Cyprus Pirate. Served an LDS mission in Holland and then chose to serve his country in the US Air Force, during the Vietnam War, for nine years. Stationed in Roswell, NM he met his sweetheart, Sandra Magill, and they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1965. He often served in various leadership positions in branch presidencies, high councils and teaching callings and was a fantastic first baseman. The bulk of his career was spent with UTA, first as a driver then as road supervisor, retiring in 2005. Some of his great loves were genealogy, creating wood projects to improve his home and as family gifts and was a devoted care giver, especially for his mother and Reo. Dennis is survived by is wife, Sandra; children: Shanna (Kwin) Peterson, Delsa (Ricky) Frank, Robin (Joe) Wilson, Rusden (Kim), Shane (Kami), Caleb (Michelle), Victor (Noel); 15 grandchildren; brother, Ron Petersen; sisters, Linda Spencer and Gae Wagstaff; and extended family. The family would like to express heartfelt appreciation for the service and tender care of the Harmony Healthcare Group. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 3, 2011, 10:00 AM at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road where family and friends may call Friday, September 2, 2011, 6-8:00 PM.
