Deon Walker

Deon Walker, age 82, being a longtime resident in West Valley City, Utah, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2019. Deon was born in 1936 to George Washington & Inez Tripp in Hinckley, Utah. Deon was raised with 13 brothers and sisters, in Callao, Utah.

Deon attended Lehi High School where she graduated in 1954. When Deon was younger, she spent some time in Moab, Utah, where she met the love of her life Bill Walker. Deon and Bill were married in 1956, and they spent the next 62 years loving each other more and more each day.

Deon worked many years in the insurance industry, until she went into business on her own, where she and her husband owned and operated a local auto parts store. Deon was more than just a wife, she was the best mother anyone could ask for and was even a better grandmother and friend.

Deon is survived by her husband, Bill Walker; her kids, Marla Milligan (Mike Milligan), Travis Haslam (Cory Haslam), Grant Walker (Jeannie Walker), Wyatt Walker, William Thomas Walker Jr. (Tommy & Renee Pankey) & Alica Walker Pankey (Lawrence Pankey). Deon also has 13 grand kids and 14 great-grand kids.

“Mom, no matter what stage of life we were in, you were always there when we needed you. You are the spark from which provides the light for all of us. The world had a saint, the best possible version someone could be. You taught us how to love; you taught us how to be strong no matter what life has in store. The world has lost a very valuable member but the heavens have gained an angel, so when we look up, close our eyes and just picture her looking down on us, protecting us and most of all still loving us unconditionally”.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 6, 2019, 11:00 a.m. at Granger West 6th Ward, 3901 W. 2925 S., West Valley City, UT 84120. Viewings will be held Tuesday, March 5th from 6-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Road, and again Wednesday prior to services at the church from 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, Utah Veterans Memorial Park.
