Dixie Weight Rupp

April 29, 1932 — August 20, 2020

TAYLORSVILLE, UTAH.

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt, Dixie Weight Rupp, age 88, returned to her Heavenly Father August 20, 2020.

Born April 29, 1932 in Hurricane, Utah, daughter of Ormon and Fern Weight. Graduated from Granite High School in 1950 where she met the love of her life, Floyd Keith Rupp and were later married on May 7, 1954 in the Salt Lake Temple. Life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many leadership callings at both the ward and stake level for Relief Society, Young Women’s, and Primary. She was honored to serve for years as secretary for the sealing office of the Jordan River Temple. For most individuals, her many years of serving as Stake Activity Committee Chairman will bring back tender memories of her Christ-like love. She believed each activity needed to bless individual lives. She enriched countless lives as she taught others how to serve and be graciously served.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Beloved by her grandchildren because of her love and interest in them, taking time to develop a relationship with each one. Spending time with her family and serving in the Church were the most important things in her life. She loved her home (which she and Keith built soon after being married) and enjoyed cooking, gardening and sewing. She had a great appreciation for cultural arts; most especially for music. Treating others with kindness, love and respect, Dixie was an example to all.

Preceded in death by her loving husband, Keith, whom she missed dearly and looked forward to their reunion; great granddaughters: Madison Sessions and Emma Drake; brothers: J Ormon Weight, Mark Weight and Howard Weight; and sister: Gay Cottrell. Survived by five sons: Todd (Nancy), Randy (RoAnn), Scott (Roberta), Jeff and Bradley (Audrey); 13 grandchildren: Kimberly (Jayson Giles), Krista (Benjamin Behrmann), Kara, AmyAnn (Brooks Taylor), Emily (Jason Sessions), Elizabeth (Ryan Drake), Robert, Benjamin (Savannah), Rachel (Graham Thomas), Brittany (Chase Lemmons), Megan (Mark Huff), Lindsay (Jake Hobbs) and Sierra; 18 great grandchildren: Jackson, Kennedy, Zander, AveryAnn, Kate, Lauren, Camille, Brayden, London, Amelia, Phoenix, Esther, Aiden, Olivia, Oaklie, Lilly, Addison and Holland; brother: Harold Weight; sisters: Cherie Van Ry, Nadine Page, Christine Price and Shirley Mellor.

The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to the many compassionate caretakers at the Beehive Homes of Riverton and Canyon Homecare & Hospice who cared for and helped Dixie live her final few months with dignity.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, funeral services will be held virtually on Saturday, August 29th at 11:00am MDT, at http://vimeo.com/451871762. The family deeply regrets that we are unable to invite everyone to pay their respects in person due to the pandemic and invites you to share your memories of Dixie using McDougal Funeral Homes online guestbook. If desired and in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Temple Fund.

Interment: Valley View Memorial Park, 4400 West 4100 South, West Valley City, UT.
