Our beloved mother, grandmother and sister reunited with her husband November 3, 2014. She was born November 30, 1930 in Aberdeen, WA to Lou E. and Rose Olsen Barrett. Dolores married Joseph Donald Tavey September 3, 1952 and they moved from California to Salt Lake City, Utah to make their home. Mom had a cheerful and adventurous spirit for life. She had a special knack for entering contests and winning and made this her hobby. When Joe retired, they became avid boaters, joining friends in recreational travel throughout the West. After Joe passed away in May of 1993, Dolores joined the Catholic Church. She committed her life to serving as a volunteer for the church, as well as for various charities, until her health declined. She loved music and sang at home and in the church choir. She was honored as Woman of the Year for her charitable work and service to the Lord. She is survived by her daughters: Jeneane (James) LaBrel, Susie (Michael) Sullivan, and Shari Tavey; granddaughter, Tedi Sullivan; grandsons: Travis LaBrel, David LaBrel, Michael Sullivan and Tavey Sullivan; sister, Beverly (Gene) Albertson. She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Donna; and brother, Lou. The family would like to express their thanks to Intermountain Homecare and Hospice who made it possible for us to care for our Mom comfortably and respectfully at home. Special thanks to Leslie and Jaime who gave her incredibly compassionate care during this time of need. Graveside services will be held Friday, November 7, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at Valley View Memorial Park, 4335 West 4100 South, WVC, UT, near the northeast area of the park.
