Don Allred

Don Mel Allred passed away on his 91st birthday, December 3, 2023, surrounded by his family. Don was born in Spring City, Utah, December 3, 1932, to Ella M. Sahlberg Allred and Brigham Earl Allred. He married Helen Christensen on December 12, 1952, in the Manti Temple. They had three children together, Julie Behunin (Kevin), Susan Reesor - deceased (Craig), and Jon (Manette). He was drafted 2 months after their marriage into the Army and was stationed in Korea after completing his training at Camp Roberts, California. His first daughter was born while he was in Korea, and he didn't meet her until she was 11 months old.

Don was a gifted athlete who excelled in every sport he tried. After he left team sports, he played hundreds of rounds of golf. He played in many tournaments including Senior Games, but never on Sunday. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was great at both.

He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as Stake Athletic Director, Ward Membership Clerk, Elders Quorum President, Bishop, High Counselor, Stake Presidency, and Stake Patriarch. He loved the Lord.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, supporting the children in their sports, musical performances, and everything they did.

Don is survived by his children Julie and Jon, wife of 71 years, Helen, 16 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren plus one on the way, and one great-great-grandson due this week. He was preceded in death by his daughter Susan, two half-brothers and one half-sister, and his parents and in-laws.

Funeral Services for Don will be held on Monday, December 11, 2023, 11:00 AM, at the Western Hills 1st Ward located at 5380 West 5400 South, Kearns, Utah. There will be a viewing before the funeral beginning at 9:30 AM at the same location.
