Don Jay Bawden, Jr.
October 27, 1944 - March 4, 2024
Don Jay Bawden, Jr beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away unexpectedly on March 4, 2024.
Don was sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple to his eternal companion, Marsha Ann Bawden on April 27, 1967. Marsha preceded him in death in 2014 after a valiant battle with breast cancer.
God then sent Don an angel named Sherylee Gillett to bring joy and keep him on his toes for the remainder of his life on Earth. They were married on January 23, 2016.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully throughout his life.
Don found joy in his family, service, generosity, dad jokes, golf, bowling, his alma mater Cyprus High School, the University of Utah, horseback riding, and his beloved friends.
Don had a stellar brain and memory that served him well in his careers, including Kennecott Copper Mine, and Granite School District where he worked as the Transportation Special Education area supervisor, retiring there in 2008. He will be truly missed.
Don is survived by his children: Donna Leppink, Jill (Richard) Gardner, Lora (Chris) Crosby, Emily (Jim) Cebrowski, Dirk (Alisa) Bawden, Katie (Jon) Hunter, Devin (Lacey) Bawden; his wife Sherylee and her five daughters: Mandi (Tim) Saxton, Cherilyn (Dave) Pinegar, Nichole Sublette, Britney Jacquez, Abbey (Casey) Huggard; 40 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife Marsha Ann Bailey Bawden; his parents: Don Jay Bawden Sr. and Vivian May Bawden; his siblings Paul, Kathy, and Neil; and his grandsons: Andrew Leppink and Collin Crosby.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 9, 2024, 11:00 AM at the West Jordan 27th Ward, 2666 West 7000 South, with visitation time with the family before the service beginning at 9:30 to 10:45 AM. In addition, family and friends are invited to join the family on Friday, March 8, 2024, from 6:00-8:00 PM at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road in Taylorsville, to share condolences and stories of Don.
