Dona LaRue Cotten Spohn Devoted Wife, Mother & Grandmother Dona LaRue Cotten Spohn, our loving daughter of God, has returned to our Heavenly Father on February 6, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. Dona was born the eldest of three daughters of James Donald and Sleetie Estelle Cotten, in Amarillo, Texas on January 4, 1941. She married her sweetheart, Richard Thomas Spohn on February 20, 1959 which was later solemnized in the Los Angeles Temple. As a Faithful member of the LDS Church she held countless callings as a Relief Society President and Spiritual Living Teacher. Her favorite and most challenging being YW s Stake Camp Director. Sleeping in the dirt, chasing off bears, and refereeing the young women did not prevent Dona from sharing her testimony and her love of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For many who know Dona, she was a real Texan at heart when it came to fashion. Purse, shoes and jewelry to match that new outfit was a must, not to forget lipstick in every shade of pink. Dona was an avid sports fan and follower of BYU. With each new quarterback she would consider them her adopted sons, profess her allegiance and cheer them on with a Go Cougars! Survived by husband, Richard; son Rick T.
