Donald L. Briggs passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, Sunday November 1, 2015, of age related incidents. He was born November 14, 1924 in SLC to LaVarre H. Briggs and Gladys Bitton. Don married Lucille Rose Camomile of SLC in 1946. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Cardston Alberta Temple. Together they raised 4 children. Mom passed away in 1989. Dad married Anna Lambert, later divorced. Dad married Dorothy Smith, later divorced. We would like to thank Anna and Dorothy for their love and support of our dad and our family. Don was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; he served in many callings including the Bishopric & High Council. Dad graduated from South High in 1943 and a few days later he and several of his classmates joined the US Navy. Don was awarded 4 bronze stars for his service during WWII while on board the USS Montpelier in the South Pacific. He was proud of his service for his country. Our family would like to thank all veterans for their service. Don is survived by children Gary (Bobbie) Briggs, West Jordan, Ron (Ann) Briggs, Henderson, Nevada, Jan (Bruce) Sterner, West Jordan, Cory (Melanie) Briggs, West Jordan; 20 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren, with another one on the way; and 4 great-great-grandchildren, with another one on the way. Our family would like to express a special thanks to Melissa, who has now moved away, and our current guardian angels, Alyssa and Larry from Harmony Home Health and Hospice. They are all dear to our hearts with the loving care they provided to dad. Don also loved the visits and talks with Naval Chaplin, Justin. The family also appreciates the love and care shown by the staff of Legacy Care Center in Taylorsville. Thanks to all of you. Graveside services will be held Saturday, November 7th, 12:00 noon, at Valley View Memorial Park, 4400 West 4100 South.
