Donna Jensen Wood

Donna Jensen Wood was born October 5, 1921 and passed away April 28, 2015, in Brigham City, UT, surrounded by loving family. She was born and raised in West Jordan, Utah, the daughter of George Marvin and Edna Jensen. She married her sweetheart, Shirley Rich Wood on January 29, 1943 in the Salt Lake Temple. After his service in the Army, they were rarely separated until his death in 1992. Donna was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served as a Primary Teacher, Cub Scout Den Mother, Drama Director, Ward Relief Society President (twice), and served as a visiting teacher for 69 years. Donna also served as Stake Relief Society President and was in the Stake Young Women's Presidency. Donna and Shirley served a mission to the Lumi Indians in Ferndale, Washington, 1980-81. She served with her husband as ordinance workers in the Jordan River Temple for 13 years where she contined to serve after he passed until her eyesight became too poor. She was always an example of compassion and love to those around her. She was a woman without guile. She loved to crochet, sew, travel, garden, collect dolls and read. Thanks to the Library for the Blind she was able to continue her passion for reading and has listened to over 1000 books on tape. She is a breast cancer survivor. She is survived by her sister Marjorie (Ted) Jones; 5 children: Marvin (Guifeng/Sara) Wood, Chandler, AZ; Diane (Cecil) Douglas, Hurricane, UT; David (Mari) Wood, Ogden, UT; Donald (Leslie) Wood, Park City, UT; and Rosemary (Ronald) Jenson, Bear River City, UT. Donna is the proud grandmother of 24 grandchildren and 65 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving spouse, Shirley Wood; parents; brothers George Jensen, Quentin Jensen, Carlos Jensen, Robert Jensen; sister Mildred Jensen; grandsons Jeremy Wood, Jacob Wood and Luke Jessen. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 9, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at the Cimmarron Ward, 5980 South 1300 West, Taylorsville, Utah. Viewings will be held Friday, May 8, 2015, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Saturday at the church, 9:30-10:30 a.m. Interment, Murray City Cemetery.
