Donna Lea Breland Pettitt
08/02/1953 - 07/21/2023
The Pettitt's are deeply saddened to announce that on Friday, July 21st, 2023 we lost our beloved mother, grandmother (Nonna), wife, sister, and friend. She was an incredible woman who touched so many lives with her compassion and generosity. She deeply loved Jesus, her family, and her country.
Donna was an amazing teacher serving nearly 30 years at a few different schools throughout her life. During her time as an educator, she taught 10 of 12 grades. She settled in later in her career as a Kindergarten teacher for more than a decade until she retired in 2010. Donna had a special way with little children in the classroom and in her many church callings. Her costume jewelry and love of frogs always kept the kids entertained. She was beloved by all she served.
Donna's giving heart gave out as she passed suddenly at the home she had come to love so much in Taylorsville, Utah. Donna moved to Utah with her loving husband, daughter, and granddaughter in 2013 to be closer to her boys and grandkids. Born August 2nd 1953 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Donna spent her early life in Hammond, Louisiana. She graduated from Hammond High in 1971 then went on to college at Southeastern University where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in education. There she met her husband and eternal companion, Richard. She spent every day of her life loving and supporting him through her final days including spending nearly every day at his bedside over the last couple of years. She loved just being there with and for him.
Donna is survived by her husband, Richard, brothers, James (Julie) and Steve (Ruth), sister, Cathy (Jimmy), her children, David (Becka), Eric (LaDawn), and Ashley, and 7 grandkids. Donna is preceded in death by her father, Donald, mother, Catherine, and brother, David.
Donna was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend - always putting the needs of others ahead of her own. She lived to serve and to spoil her grandkids rotten! Her unconditional love and infectious smile was unmatched. She will be remembered and greatly missed by all who knew her.
Our family is grateful for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time.
May Donna's memory live on in our hearts forever. We are eternally grateful for the time we were able to spend with her and will carry her legacy forward in all that we do. May she be at peace in the arms of the Lord and those who have gone before, till we meet at Jesus' feet.
Rest In Peace, Mom, we love and miss you!
