Our sweet, cherished mother, Donna Hirschi Stringham, got her best Mother's Day gift ever as her dear husband, Clyde, took her hand and guided her through the veil just 5 months and 5 days after his passing. They now continue their eternal life together. Mom passed away peacefully on Mother's Day, May 14th, with her sons Max, Bruce and Steven by her side. Donna was born in Park Valley, UT on September 7, 1928 to Rulon and Ruth Hirschi. She grew up in Perry, UT on the family fruit farm and attended Box Elder High School. After attending college she worked for 20th Century Fox as a secretary. She married Clyde Stringham on January 9, 1950; he died December 9, 2016. They lived in Centerville and Bountiful for ten years before building the family home in East Midvale where they raised their four sons. Mom later went back to work, enjoying a fifteen year career as the secretary for Hartvigsen School for the handicapped in Granite School District, a job she truly loved. In retirement, Mom and Dad traveled extensively in their 5th wheel trailer. If it was summer, you'd find them at Joe's Valley reservoir, Upper Stillwater, or their beloved East Canyon Resort. Donna was a devout member of the LDS Church, serving in many callings throughout her life, her favorite being Young Woman's advisor, where she finally got a chance to help raise "her girls!" She and Clyde also served continuously in the Jordan River Temple for over twenty years. Although small in stature, Donna was a giant of a woman and raised her four boys with a firm hand (they all recall her swinging a pretty mean wooden spoon!) In her later years, she loved to write in her journal. When a conflict of memory arose between her and Clyde, she was known to say, "don't make me get out my journal!", to which he would generally acquiesce with a grin. Donna is survived by her four loving sons: Max (Debbie), Bruce (Ruth), Brent (Janet), and Steven; 7 grandchildren: Christy, Diane, Michael, David, Blake, Eric, Robert; 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 18, 2017, 12:00 noon at Midvale East 4th Ward building, 87 East 7100 South, where viewings will be held Wednesday, May 17th, 6:30-8:00 p.m. and again prior to services on Thursday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Interment, Murray City Cemetery.
