Doris was born October 22, 1938, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She passed away August 31, 2014, in Woodburn, Oregon. Darlene retired from the Alaska Marine Highway System in 1988. She was the president of Local 783 Hotel-Motel and Bartender Union in Sitka, Alaska, for two years; a member of the Bullcooks and IBUW unions; and vice president of the PTA in Butte, Montana. Most important, she was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt to her family. Darlene is survived by her brother, Walt (Donna) Breshears; daughter, Linda (Wayne) Lofton; son, Steve (Joyce) Draper; daughter, Darlene (Dick) Maher; grandsons, Jeffrey Sapinoro-Maher and Steven Draper; granddaughters, Miranda Jacob and Brandi Harrell; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Darlene was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Pauline Shafer Breshears; father, Wendell Merle Breshears; brother, Richard Merle Breshears; her partner and friend, Norm Ashland; and beloved dog, Dee Dee. A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2014, prior to funeral services at 11:00 a.m., both at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah.
