Doris (Dare') Elinor Preston Ramsay, age 93 years of Salt Lake City, Utah, died April 11, 2023.

Doris was born at home in Lansford, Pennsylvania, on April 14, 1929.

She graduated from Pennsylvania State College, now Pennsylvania State University, in 1951 with a degree in Audiology and Speech Therapy. Upon graduation she taught elementary school for two years.

She was married to her college sweetheart, James Robert Ramsay, MD, June 14, 1952. They enjoyed traveling and lived in many places including: Pennsylvania; Utah; Kansas; New Mexico; Ramstein, Germany; Oklahoma; New Hampshire; Mississippi; Georgia; and Florida while raising their four children.

Mrs. Ramsay was a lifelong member of the Episcopal Church, an accomplished knitter and bridge player, a gourmet chef, sought after hostess, active volunteer, an avid college football fan cheering for the Penn State Nittany Lions and all her children and grandchildren's universities, and most importantly a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker.

In recent years in Salt Lake City she remained active in the Ladies Literary Society, her book club, current events club, and for many years was a Hall Representative at her residence.

She is predeceased by her parents William and Stella Preston and her husband James. She is survived by her four children, James (Jamie) and wife Tori; Robin and husband Brian; William (Bill) and wife Maria; Margaret (Meg) and husband Mike; and her grandchildren Joemy and husband Josh; Lauren and husband Travis; Ramsay, Preston, Lila, and Thomas and great granddaughter Thea.
