Dorothea Lovena Tilt Kimball

Dorothea Lovena Tilt Kimball (Dottie), age 80, passed away February 3, 2014 in Salt Lake City, UT. She was born April 17, 1933, in Salt Lake City, daughter of Frank and Ruby Morse Tilt. Dottie was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Edward (Ted) Kimball whom she married in 1949. Their marriage was later soleminized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She is survived by her children Sandy (Brian) Everett, Colleen Jamison, Dan (Paulette) Kimball, Peggy (Marvin) Paynter and Ruth (Tom) Tidwell; 17 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; siblings Tom (Anena) Tilt and Connie Capson. Dorothy and Ted raised their children in West Valley City and remained there for the past fifty years. Her greatest joys in life were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She deeply cared about her other family members as well as her dear friends. As a child she grew up in Salt Lake City and later attended South High School. Dorothy worked at J.C. Penney's and for the State of Utah H.E.A.T. Program as a supervisor. Her co-workers were like sisters to her. She was compassionate, kind and always loved helping people in need. She became an exceptional tole painter and shared her talent by painting for hours making gifts for others. Her witty sense of humor could lift a persons spirits. She was an example to all of us as she faced earthly challenges and health problems. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 8, 2014, 11:00 AM at the Taylorsville 25th Ward, 4503 South 3420 West. Viewings will be held Friday, February 7, 2014, 6 to 8 PM at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Saturday at the church, 10-10:45 AM. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
