Dorothy Argyle, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and loving friend, passed away on August 14, 2024, in Kaysville, Utah.
Born September 14, 1934, to Edward Luis Silberstein and Janette Bishop. Dorothy graduated from Jordan High School and continued her education at Brigham Young University, earning a degree in Elementary Education. At her first teaching job at Central Elementary School in Pleasant Grove she met a handsome 6th grade teacher, Samuel Lynn Bearnson. They were married a year later in the Salt Lake Temple on October 18, 1957.
They made their home in Sandy, Utah and returned together to earn their graduate degrees in Elementary Administration from Brigham Young University. Dorothy enjoyed being a wife and mother to two children, Edward and Karen. In 1967 Lynn passed away and Dorothy later married Reed B Argyle on July 11, 1969. They each brought two young children to the marriage, and they made a wonderful life for their family in Payson, Utah where they enjoyed camping and fishing in the mountains, particularly at Strawberry Reservoir. After a few years of staying home, Dorothy resumed her teaching career, teaching Kindergarten and 3rd grade at Wilson Elementary School in Payson. She loved teaching for many years and spent the last part of her career supervising interns from BYU.
Dorothy was an avid BYU fan, and attended the university basketball games for years. She had a wide circle of friends and enjoyed many activities with them, such as walking to McDonalds for breakfast and playing 5 Crowns. She was a staunch disciple of Jesus Christ. She enjoyed serving others in many capacities, including reenacting the life of Mary Ann Young and Betsy Ross, volunteering in the temple, and playing the piano and organ in church and the Payson temple. She will be held forever in the hearts of all those who loved her.
She is survived by her beloved children and their spouses: Ed Bearnson, Karen Harward (Kevin); stepchildren: Brenda Smith (Gary), and Ken Bearnson, Joy Peters (Jonathan), and Shaun Argyle; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, with one great-grandchild due in 2025. Preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lynn, husband Reed, and two half-brothers.
