Dorothy Arnold

September 7, 1930 — December 2, 2024

It is with a sad heart we announce the death of Dorothy Irene Arnold, age 94. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 2nd, 2024. She was born September 7th,1930, to Marvin Lester Flanders and Frances Pauline Wortmann Drumm Flanders. She was born and raised most of her young life in Kemmer, Wyoming. She was the oldest of 5 children and the only daughter. She attended a small local schoolhouse with her family and cousins and loved telling stories that she walked several miles in the snow both ways in the Wyoming ghost towns with a father who was a coal miner and plumber during the great depression, searching for treasures post the gold rush.

She attended Granite High School in Salt Lake City, Utah and graduated in 1948. She married her sweetheart, Wallace John Arnold, in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple. They raised their children in Southern California, later moving back to Utah. She worked in dentistry for many years in California. She had a great appreciation and admiration for the arts and music. She rarely missed an opportunity to attend a concert, a play, or to spend a day out and about at museums, amusement parks, or the beach with loved ones. She also enjoyed puzzles, card games, or game shows to pass the time. She spent many hours reading, shopping, quilting, crocheting, knitting, or organizing other crafting projects. She was very proud of her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews and their many accomplishments of all kinds.

She served in many callings within the LDS church throughout her life. Most notably are the ones in Young Women, the library, and ward clerk. She was an avid genealogist and dedicated visiting teacher and most recently was proud to serve as a counselor in the Relief Society presidency. She also worked in the Los Angeles Temple for many years and in the church humanitarian center for well over 10 years. She was devoted to the gospel and endured to the end.

She is preceded in death by her oldest son, Wallace John Arnold JR, husband, Wallace J. Arnold SR. (2000) and grandchildren Clayton and Jennifer Arnold.
