Dorothy Elizabeth Cerny Behunin

We are not here to mourn a life has ended, we are here to celebrate a life well lived. Our dear sweet mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and friend passed away surrounded by family March 20, 2017. Dorothy was born December 16, 1924 in Longmont, Colorado to Albert and Josephine Cerny. She grew up in Colorado and moved to Utah and worked at Deseret Chemical Depot during WWII. Dorothy and Sam owned Sam's Place, a bar in Lehi, Utah. Dorothy married Samuel Charles Huggard in 1947 in Elko, NV. They had four children. Later divorced. Married J. Edward Jones in 1960 (deceased). Married Rawlin L. Behunin in 1977 (deceased). She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Charles Cerny; three sisters, Maxine Cerny, Evelyn Whisman, Alberta Clark; one granddaughter, Theresa Huggard; one great-granddaughter, Isabelle Eve Martinez; and her pet dog Goldie. Survived by children Ed (Sandy)Huggard, Charles (Cindy) Huggard, Rosalind Trease, Connie Eye; 9 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother Donald Cerny; sister Jean Murray; and a large extended family. Mom loved her family and friends and always had time to visit and share a cup of coffee. She loved spending time on her computer, playing bingo, dice games, going to Wendover, horse races, Easter picnics and crocheting afghans. She enjoyed playing the piano and harmonica and was a skilled pool player. In her younger years, she liked to ride horses and go deer hunting. She was an active member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church for over 50 years. Viewing on Thursday, 03/23/17, 6:00 - 8:00 pm at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Road, SLC, UT. Rosary prior to the funeral Friday, 03/24/17 at 10:00 am, Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am, St. Theresa Catholic Church, 7832 Allen St. (624 West) Midvale, UT. Interment, Memorial Redwood Cemetery, 6500 S. Redwood Road. Pallbearers: Christopher Trease, Damien Huggard, Sam Huggard, Tracy Ortiz, Casey Huggard and Russell Martinez.
