Dorothy Erma Evans Bawden Atkin (96) 1915 ~ 2012 Our little mother Dorothy Atkin died June 26, 2012 in South Jordan, Utah, of natural causes. She was born 24 August 1915 in Garfield, Salt Lake County, Utah, the daughter of Dorothy Ellen Beagley Evans and James Edmund Evans. She was raised in Magna, Utah, where she attended public schools, graduating from Cyprus High School. She then attended and graduated from the Utah High School of Beauty Culture. She was a licensed beautician for many years. She married Willard Wallace Bawden 27 December 1938 in the Logan Temple. They were married 37 years. They are parents of 4 children. Wallace died 24 April 1975. She married Sidney G. Atkin 8 April 1976 in the Salt Lake Temple. He died 25 September 1985. Dorothy was an accomplished organist and pianist. She was a church organist/pianist all of her life. She was also a talented singer. She faithfully held many Church positions in the LDS Church. She was a faithful supporter of her husband, Wallace, through the years that he served in church leadership positions. She was a temple worker in the Salt Lake Temple for 19 years. She is survived by her brother, John Edmund Evans (Bernice), Magna, Utah. Also survived by three of her children: Dorothy Lucille Bawden Baker (Nelson), Sandy, Utah; Karen Ann Bawden Morris (Craig), South Jordan, Utah; Marguerite Ellen Bawden Lee, Perry, Utah; and daughter-in-law, Lori McMillan Bawden, West Valley City, Utah. Also survived by 21 grandchildren and 63 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a grandson, Tom Lee, and by her son, John Wallace Bawden, and by her son-in-law, Wayne Thomas Lee. Many thanks to Karen and Craig Morris, who were Dorothy s care-givers for 6 years, and to the management and care-givers at Carrington Court in South Jordan, who took care of Dorothy during her last years. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 30, 2012, at 12:00 p.m. at the Harvest Park Ward, 3671 South 4180 West, West Valley City. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Friday evening at McDougal Funeral Homes, 4330 South Redwood Road and one hour prior to the services on Saturday at the church. Interment, Elysian Burial Gardens.
