Doyle Lovell Johnson peacefully passed on to the next phase of his eternal journey on February 15, 2024, surrounded by all five of his living children.

The youngest of 13 children, Doyle was born on March 30, 1927, to Louis Elias Johnson and Theresa Flake Johnson in Snowflake, Arizona. As a child with many chores on the family ranch, he had an inquisitive mind and loved school.

He graduated from Lakeside High School and then served in the U.S. Army as WWII ended. He also served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Southwest Indian (US) Mission.

After his mission, his life changed forever while working construction in California when he first saw Legia Mendenhall singing in a church choir at church. A few months later - on June 13, 1951, they married in the Mesa, Arizona Temple.

They moved to Salt Lake City where he attended the U of U , earning a teaching degree to fulfill his life-long dream to teach elementary school. However, by the time he graduated, he was already making more at his part-time job at IML Freight than he would as a teacher. Hence the beginning of his career as a safety inspector for this large trucking company.

On the home front, six children were born to this loving couple. These kids had the good fortune to be raised by a couple completely committed to each other and to their children, teaching them by word and example. Doyle and Legia also "adopted" Sharon Steglich along the way, treating her in many respects as a full-fledged family member.

Doyle was a friend to everyone he met. He loved serving in community roles, in the Church - including as a Bishop - and as a companion with Legia teaching in church schools in the Pacific.

After Legia's passing in 2003, Doyle married Marilyn Bevan in 2006. She passed away in November 2020.

Throughout his life Doyle was a perfect patriarch, always there to listen to the challenges and complaints of his kids and grandkids and many others to share his loving wisdom.

Doyle is survived by his children; Brian (Ann), Kevin (Lynn) Rachael (Lon), Carolyn (Tim), Jeana (Jeff), 19 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, and other family members. He was preceded in death by his wife Legia, daughter Coleen and her husband Brent, daughter Sharon, daughter-in-law Jocelyn, and grandchildren Bridgette, Adri, Neal, and Evan.
