Passed away 17 December 2016 at the VA Hospital, SLC, UT. Born 15 May 1936, Hengelo, Netherlands to Simon Pieter Stephanus and Cornelia Adriana Vreeze Pons. Moved to America in 1952. Attended West High. Married Soni Nielsen (later divorced.) Served US Army. Attended Darrels Beauty College, winning many State awards as a hair stylist. Moved to San Diego where he owned Garnet Hair Fashions. Loved sailing, kite flying, camping and traveling. Missed the mountains of Utah and returned and took up piano tuning. He loved all his clients, leaving each visit playing a Boogie Woogie tune. Father of 6 children Randy, Bryan, Curtis, Alisa (deceased), Denise and Darrin Pons. Married Margene Williams and was step-father to David, Darrel, Darlene, Dion, Darrin, DaRena Wood and DeAnna Davis and many grandchildren and great-grand children and loved them all. Enjoyed 31 years of Happiness with Margene. Has had several health problems and has lived the last 20 months at Midtown Manor. Special thanks for their service. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 21, 2016, 11:00 a.m., at Jordan North 6th Ward building, 4100 South and Bangerter. Viewings will be held Tuesday, December 20th, 6-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, and Wednesday at the church from 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South.
