Eileen Woodhouse Martin

September 3, 1931 — February 26, 2020

Eileen Woodhouse Martin “Grandma-Great”, passed away at home in West Valley City on February 26, 2020 surrounded by her loving family.

Eileen was born on September 3, 1931 in Roosevelt, Idaho to Howard Woodhouse and Alta Stevenson Woodhouse. Eileen married Deal M. Martin on April 16, 1949. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on April 16, 1965.

Eileen was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many callings in her ward as well as in her stake and she most certainly loved her Savior. Eileen was an amazing homemaker and nurturer to her family. She loved to tell jokes and make us all laugh. She shared many stories of herself as a child growing up in Preston, Idaho with her three siblings, Keith (Naoma) Woodhouse (deceased), Charles Woodhouse (deceased) and Max (Shirley) Woodhouse. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren “THE MOST!”  Eileen was very proud of her faith and she loved reading stories of Joseph and Emma Smith.

Eileen is survived by her six children, Edward Martin of Salt Lake, De Lene (Dale) Matthews of West Valley City, Sharon (Russell) Wall of Taylorsville, Bradley (Rose) Martin of Kingman, Arizona, Randy (Linda) Martin of West Jordan, and Todd (Collette) Martin of Herriman; 21 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law; sister-in-law Roberta (Elden) Jeppson (deceased); sister-in-law Clarice (Keith) Ricks; and one grandson, Jason Matthews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Inspiration Hospice for their kindness, compassion and service for our mom.
