"Naney" Elaine Everett Wessman, 90, passed away January 29, 2016 of causes incident to age. She was born to Orson Everett and Annie Laurie Malin on July 10, 1925, in Salt Lake City. She graduated from East High School and then worked as a bookkeeper for Purity Biscuit in Salt Lake City during World War II. She married Ernest Hayward Wessman on March 22, 1947, after which she focused much of her life on being a homemaker. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Elaine and Ernie spent many memorable winters with friends in Bahia Kino, Mexico, and Casa Grande, Arizona, and summers in Star Valley, Wyoming. She was very creative and enjoyed oil painting, intricate bead work, and making hooked rugs. She loved playing card and many other games, golfing, and going camping with friends. She was active in the Meadowbrook Ladies' Golf Association and with Ernie organized many RV outings for the Wasatch Wagons chapter of the Good Sam club. She is survived by her children, Ernie (Annette) Wessman of South Jordan, Utah; Mark (Marty) Wessman of Springfield, Virginia; Lynn (Laurel) Wessman of Arlington, Virginia; Laurie (Don) Kocherhans of South Jordan, Utah; Lee (Cheryl) Wessman of West Jordan, Utah; and Dan (Patricia) Wessman of Chesapeake, Virginia; 20 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Ernie, her parents, her sister Laurie Virginia Everett Denhalter, her brother Donald Malin Everett, infant brother Edward Orson Everett, and one great-granddaughter. The family expresses appreciation to the caregivers of Sunrise Senior Living of Sandy, Utah, and of Solstice Hospice for the wonderful care they gave Elaine during her final weeks of life. A funeral service will be held Thursday, February 4, 2016, 11:00 a.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah. A viewing will be held, Wednesday, February 3, 2016, 6 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
