Eleanor Jane Carney

September 14, 1930 — July 4, 2016

Loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister, Eleanor Jane Carney, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loving family, July 4, 2016. She was born September 14, 1930, in Fairmont, West Virginia, to Dewey and Viola Summers. She married Louis Raymond Carney, Jr. on February 14, 1958, Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Ray passed away August 9, 1995. Jane was a faithful member of the LDS Church. She had a strong testimony and her faith never wavered. She was an avid reader of gospel doctrine. She leaves behind her daughter, Cheryl (Kerry) Thorup; and grandsons, Shawn, and Eric (Rhiannon) Thorup. The Thorups tirelessly took wonderful care of Jane over the last few years. She is also survived by daughters, Judy McCarthy, and Vickie Fairbourn; grandchildren, Shane Waterfield, and Alisha Bentley; great-granddaughters, Kami Thorup, and Ashlee and Sierra Starr; sister, Doris Piserchia; brother, Dewey Summers, Jr.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Billy Summers; and sisters, Rosemary Collins, and Vennadel Pierce. Thank you to Brighton Home Health & Hospice RN Tiffany Buttars, and CNA Rachel Taylor for the tender care they provided for Mom; as well as the CNA's at Heritage Place. A graveside service will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, July 7, at Valley View Memorial Park, 4400 West 4100 South. A viewing will be from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Thursday, prior to graveside service, at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, in Taylorsville. Place of Birth:Fairmont, West Virginia
