Elsie Martinez Gallegos was called home on April 4, 2018. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who genuinely filled our lives with compassion, laughter and love. A gifted crafter, quilter and seamstress, she loved giving gifts made from her many talents. There are no words to express how deeply she will be missed. Born February 20, 1922 in NoAgua, New Mexico to Rafael and Regina Herrera Martinez. She married Emilio Gallegos on October 12, 1942 and they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1958. Making a home in the Hunter Second Ward, they were active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1978, they had the honor of completing a 2 year work mission in Monterey, Mexico. They also worked in the Jordan River Temple from 1981-1983. Preceded in death by Emilio, husband and companion for 50 years; brothers, Phil, Luis, Tony, Richard; sisters, Annie, Dora, Betty and Ida; and grandson Kirk Gallegos. She is survived by her daughter Carol Stevens (JD); son Felix Gallegos (Vicky); brother Robert Martinez (Margaret); sisters, Beatrice Pohto (Ralph) and Helen Chavez; five grandchildren, Stefani Harman, Eric Harman, Andrea Harman, Justin Gallegos and Jeff Gallegos; great-grandchildren, Michael Nikodym, Alex Nikodym and Emma Catherine Gallegos. We would like to give a special thanks to Rocky Mountain Nursing Home in Tooele, Utah for their loving care of our dear Elsie. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 9th, 12:00 noon at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Road, where viewings will be held Sunday, April 8th, 6-8:00 p.m. and again Monday 11-11:45 a.m. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
