Elwin David Butterfield passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 24, 2016 to join his sweetheart. He was born in Murray, UT on November 20, 1922 to Edna Maxwell and David Butterfield. He married his lifelong sweetheart Jeanetta "June" Flanders on January 3, 1947 in Salt Lake City, UT. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. From the time of their union, Elwin and June were inseparable throughout their 62 years of marriage. He served with the US Marines in World War II. He retired from Hercules after 38 years. Elwin was dedicated to serving in numerous callings in his church in which he was a High Priest. He especially loved spending time with and serving his family. His laugh and jovial spirit will be missed! He has missed and longed to be with his sweet June since her passing on February 27, 2009. Their favorite day of the year was Christmas Eve. Such a joyous occasion for them to finally spend it together once again. Elwin is survived by his children Charles of Mesa, AZ; David (Brenda) of St George, UT; Judy (Lynn) Montgomery of Sandy, UT; James (Debbie) of Kearns, UT; Steven (Michelle) of Brigham City, UT; 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife June, brother Roy and sisters Dorothy and Donna. Funeral services will be held on December 29, 2016, 11:00 am at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, UT 84123. A viewing will be held on Thursday from 10:00 am until 10:45 am preceding the services. Interment at Valley View Memorial Park.
