Emily Lyn Astin, 39, lost her battle with depression and bipolar disorder, resulting in suicide on December 22, 2017, in Woods Cross, Utah. Our beautiful, smart, kind, generous, and loving sister could no longer endure the hopelessness and isolation that depression inflicted on her and we are truly heartbroken. Emily, a lifelong Utah resident, grew up in Salem and graduated from Spanish Fork High School. She had a successful 22 year career at ShopKo as a store manager. She was loved by siblings; Amie (Blake) Smith, Chris Astin (Jay Bosworth), Suzanne Gould, Steve (Tami) Astin; two nieces Megan & Sami; seven nephews Andrew, Jade, Brayden, Merik, Tyson, Jake and Max; stepchildren Ricky and Malia Favela; best friend Goose Gustamantes; beloved dogs Daffie and Olive; her late father's wife Charleen Bylund Astin; as well as numerous extended family; ShopKo coworkers, and friends. Emily was preceded in death by parents Delbert (Bud) Astin and Marjorie Marchand.
