Ernest Lavon Pease "Our Hero" Our star, our hero, our father, Ernie Pease was born January 2, 1932 in Thatcher, AZ to Ike and Vera Pease. The family later moved to Salt Lake City. While attending West High School, Ernie was known as the "Barrel-Chested Running Russian". He won many gold medals and set many records in track. After high school he joined the Air Force and served in Korea and Vietnam. He then served an LDS mission to the New England states which he loved and where he met so many good people. After returning from his mission, he met and married his beautiful wife, Barbara in the Salt Lake City Temple. Their children are Sheri Lyne (Steve), Ernest Leroy, Gary Leon, Sandra Leigh (Mike), and Sheila Joyce (Bob). He loved his family more than anything. Ernie retired after 25 years with the Salt Lake City Fire Department and has long been considered by his family and many, others as a hero, and a truly great man. He enjoyed being outside in the sun, going exploring out in the West Desert, hunting, long Sunday drives, telling stories, and helping everyone he met. He was a man of integrity and honesty. Ernie rejoined his Father in Heaven and his previously departed family members July 9, 2014. The funeral will be Tuesday July 15, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Cedar Breaks Ward, 5620 So 2200 West. A viewing will be held Monday July 14, 2014 at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 So. Redwood Road, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, with a viewing at the church from 10:00-10:45 a.m. prior to the funeral service.
