Errett James Floto, 98, of Salt Lake City, UT came into this world August 7, 1919. "Jimmy", son of Lee Roy and Nellie Mae Floto, loving husband of Carol Floto, passed away on February 5, 2018. He said he wanted to live to be 100 and he almost made it. Errett lived a life full of dreams, heartbreak and love. He was raised in West Virginia where he adventured as a boy and joined the Army AirCorp at 18 in 1940. He transferred in 1947 to the newly formed United States Air Force. He married Alice Tame in 1944 whom he had six children with and were later divorced. He served in World War II and Korea as an Aerial Gunner on a B-24 Liberator and was stationed in North Africa and France. In 1958 he was stationed at Chitose Air Force Base, Japan with his family and he loved to make enormous Christmas decorations for the family home which he continued making after retirement in 1961 in Utah. He enjoyed fishing and camping with his family. He later worked for Sweets Candy Factory in Salt Lake City where he met his wife, Carol, whom he married in 1982. He loved regaling his friends and family with war stories, his dogs Oreo and Michelle, collecting things and gardening. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Henry (Mary); and his son Errett Jr. He is survived by his wife Carol; and three sons, Dennis (Barbara), Bryan (Sandi), Neil (Merri); two daughters, Claire (David), and Lisa (Pete). He is also survived by many grandchildren, great- grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held Monday, February 12th, 10:00 a.m. at Rosedale LDS Ward House 1148 W 500 N, SLC.
