"Proud to be an American" Ervin W. Simons, Sr., died May 23, 2015 of natural causes. He was born July 12, 1927, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Joseph W. Simons and Mary G. Peterson. He married Shannon Thomas on July 29, 1949. He faithfully and honorably served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He was a proud lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 7442. Survivors include children, Shannon N. (Steven) Hancey, Ervin W. (Barbara) Simons, Joseph T. Simons, David Shane (Kathy) Simons, and Tammy (Frank) Windholz; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Shannon; and a grandson. Graveside services will be held Friday, May 29, 2015, 2:30 p.m. at Utah Veterans Memorial Park, 17111 Redwood Road, Bluffdale, Utah. Under the direction of McDougal Funeral Home.
