Ethan Lennart Pearson

Ethan was born on August 10, 1933 to Clarence Norman and Signe Elise Nilsson Pearson. After graduating from Cyprus High School, he served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sweden. Upon returning from Sweden, he served two years active duty in the U.S. Army.

Ethan married Alice “Judy” Jones on November 6, 1970 in the Salt Lake Temple. They are the parents of two daughters.

Ethan was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many positions throughout the years, although his favorite was the many years he served as Scoutmaster in the Redwood Third Ward.

Ethan loved hiking and the natural world, spending as much time as he possibly could in the mountains and deserts of Utah. He was an avid reader, enjoying biographies, history tomes, and everything by Hugh Nibley. He read the newspaper every day to keep informed of current events.

Ethan was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Ruth Scott, Ramona Gold, Imogene Bytheway, Lorentz Pearson, Ingeborg Johnson, and Barbara Julander.

Ethan is survived by his wife of 49 years, Judy Pearson; and his daughters Kristen Pearson and Kjerstina (Weston) Marcusen.

The family wishes to express gratitude for the staffs of Hunter Hollow, Holladay Healthcare, and Encompass Health Hospice for the loving care they provided for Ethan.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 17, 2020, 11:00 am at Pheasant Brook Ward, 3970 South 5200 West, West Valley City, UT. Viewings will be held Thursday, January 16, 2020 6:00-8:00 pm at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Friday, 10:00-10:45 am at the church. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
