Eufemia Loyola Jaramillo Payton

March 23, 1941 — December 16, 2016

We have angels walking on the earth impersonating as humans. One of these angels went home to our Heavenly Father. Eufemia, known as Femi to all that knew her, passed away on December 16, 2016, of cancer. Femi was born on the 23rd of March, 1941, in Espanola, New Mexico. She was born to Rosabell and Belarmino Jaramillo. Femi and her first husband, Dave Payton, divorced but remained lifelong friends. She later married Ron Masserant. Femi said that when they first met she loved how he made her laugh. Femi graduated from the University of Utah in Psychology, Social Work and Education.She was a polio survivor, cancer survivor and succumbed to her second bout with cancer.She taught for thirty years in the Salt Lake School District. She sang in a band for three years and loved music. She spoke fluent Spanish and for years helped to interpret for parents and teachers at school conferences. Femi was a lifelong teacher who taught and tutored many children to read and do math. Her traveling buddy was her daughter Jo and they traveled all over the country to watch her granddaughters in gymnastics and tumbling competitions. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and participated in the Neighborhood watch program to help keep her neighborhood safe. Femi attended Senior Citizens of South Jordan and there she participated in tennis and Tai Chi. She will be missed by all who have had the privilege of knowing her. The family would like to thank Jackie, June, Sabrina, Dolores, Hortencia and Cheryl who have been angels in Femi's life at the right time. She is survived by her husband, Ron Masserant; and her first husband, Dave Payton; daughters, Jo Payton and BJ (Mike) Lopez; sister, Alice (Israel) Martin; brother, Bill (Teresa) Jaramillo; granddaughters; Bri Griffin, Shaylynn Payton, Jaydyn Payton, Haylee Valdez and Olivia Valdez; and her nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; and her brother Joe. Funeral Services will he held at 11:30, Thursday, December 22, 2016 at McDougal Funeral Home Chapel, 4330 South Redwood Road. Viewings will be held on Wednesday from the hours of 6:00 8:00 P.M. and Thursday from 10:30 11:15 at McDougal Funeral Home. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens.
