Eugene Wayne Hollingsworth

Eugene W. Hollingsworth "I Won the Bloody Game" Brave, compassionate, loving and intelligent husband, father, grandfather and brother, Eugene (Gene) Hollingsworth peacefully died this day surrounded by his devoted family. The son of Herbert and Evelyn Hollingsworth and grandson of Eugene and Mildred Leahy and Herbert and Lena Hollingsworth, passed following the effects of an accident at his home. Born in San Francisco, CA on January 10, 1954 and raised in Penngrove, CA. Gene was a twinkle in his grandfather's eye and loved by all. He graduated from Rancho Cotate Senior High School in 1972 and immediately continued on with his education as an electrical engineering major until an accident in October, 1973. He worked for the Santa Rosa City School District for 15 years and then chose to follow his brother, Tom, to Utah where he met the love of his life, Lorraine Kruger. After a brief courtship they became engaged and married on December 17, 1993 where he willingly and wantonly became the father to Jacque, Daniel, Jacob and Stephanie. Two additional twin daughters, Sharee and Jennifer, were born September 13, 1994. Gene and Lorraine were sealed in the Jordan River Temple. Together the family developed a closeness for each other that lasts to this day. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Gene had a great sense of humor that made everyone laugh and be at ease. He has always loved children and would go out of his way to spend time with them. He had a great interest in science, history and railroads. His favorite hobby was to collect movies and TV shows and watch them with his family. Gene is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, father and mother-in-law, Alma and Hilda Kruger; cousins: Jess Rudolph, Felix Rolando and Elaine Farvour; sons-in-law, Cory Stone and Ryan Kelly. Survived by wife, Lorraine; children: Jacque (Cory, deceased), Daniel (Heather), Jacob (Katie), Stephanie (Ryan, deceased) Sharee and Jennifer; 8 grandchildren; brother, Tom (Inez); multiple brothers and sisters-in-law; nephews, nieces, grandnieces, grandnephews, aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 4, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at the Bennion 2nd Ward, 6100 South Kamas Drive (2480 W.) where a viewing will be held ,10-10-:45 a.m. Interment, West Jordan City Cemetery.
